If you haven’t been to Montreal yet, you will soon realize the kaleidoscope of artistic murals there is. And even though you can observe them all over the city, I think my favorite place to explore is Mont-Royal Avenue.

I remember the first time I walked down the street and saw the amount of colors flourishing those walls. All representing different areas of life: nature, people, animals, arts, and even historical events. Even though I was born and lived in this city for my whole life, everytime I go back there, I still get the same feeling, as if I was experimenting life for the first time. A mix of joy, excitement, and relief. Relief that everything is going to be alright. Relief that we live in such a colourful and diversed society, a place where everything seems possible.

I think, for me, letting artists shine in a city is actually a way of self expression, giving them the power to share a sense of community which everyone can identify to. Seeing arts such as murals being part of the urban landscape is, to me, the strongest way to create a sense of belonging.

It simply reminds me how Montreal is truly alive and shining. And how beautiful it is.
